Waiting for Morning by Karen Kingsbury Book Review

Hannah Ryan has the perfect life. A lifelong love in her husband Dr. Tom Ryan and two teenage daughters who are super close to each other and their parents. Hannah has also always had a problem holding a grudge. When a huge tragedy strikes her life very abruptly in the form of a fatal car accident caused by a drunk driver, Brian Wesley, Hannah must learn to give her worries to God, to forgive and most of all, to live a life that she never imagined herself living in.

Waiting for Morning starts right away with Hannah having that "feeling" that moms get sometimes when they know something isn't right. So the car accident happens within the first few chapters. It is so sad and any mom that went through what Hannah went through would have trouble learning to live again. That said, I had a hard time feeling sympathetic toward Hannah because she flat out ignores the child who needs her and expects her to handle this situation as an adult, when Hannah isn't even doing that herself. Of course, Hannah acting this way is important to the overall story and I do understand that it was necessary, it just made me so sad to see a mom treat her child the way Hannah was! I do like that although this story is about Hannah Ryan, that it also shares the story of the drunk driver and of Jenny Ryan and each of their struggles. I thought it was a very accurate portrayal of how each might be thinking or acting in the situation that each was in. I loved the conclusion that the book came to and that Hannah finally realized that she needed to change how she was handling things. I really loved Matt, Hannah's lawyer and confidant, who become a good friend to her. I loved that she had someone to turn to who wouldn't judge her when she felt so alone. I was also excited to find out at the end of the book that this is a series and there are two more books that I can't wait to get my hands on! I would definitely recommend this book to Karen Kingsbury fans or anyone who enjoys reading something on the dramatic side of things.

The Crossing by Serita Ann Jakes- Book Review

I was excited to come across The Crossing by Serita Ann Jakes. I knew when I read the summary of the book, that it would be something I would enjoy. The book is about a shooting that takes place on a school bus 10 years prior injuring a star football player, Casio Hightower, killing head cheeleading coach BJ Remington and forever changing the life of Claudia, a student and cheerleader that had a very close relationship with Remington. The story is set ten years later where Claudia's husband, who happens to be a lawyer, re-opens the case in hopes of giving his wife some closure and Casio Hightower, who is now a police officer, seems to be dealing with post traumatic stress disorder. The Crossing is a great portrayal of what life might be like for the victims of such a tragedy, even ten years later. I thought Jakes did a great job of not trying to sugar coat things. Sometimes life just doesn't always have a happy ending. This is a great read for someone who enjoys a good drama with a little bit of suspense.

Back to Resolution by Rose Dee- Book Review

Bay Anders is a wealthy girl who just feels empty inside. After her mother passes away, she leaves the United States to return to Australia, where she is searching for the father she doesn't remember. A local stranger- Flynn McKenna is the only one who can help her find her father, who has gone missing! Bay drives Flynn crazy, but he just can't stop himself from thinking about her. Will they find her father? Will Bay and Flynn find common ground or continue to deny their strong desire for one another?

I really enjoyed Back to Resolution. I love books that have a little bit of mystery and a little bit of romance. What can I say? I can be a girlie girl. I felt sorry for Bay in the beginning of the book because you could tell that even though she could have every material thing, she didn't feel fulfilled and definitely was not feeling loved, especially by her mother. I liked that the story was set in Australia, somewhere I have never been, but always wanted to go. It was kind of fun and different that it was set on island with only a handful of residents. An island which doesn't have any modern amenities, which forces spoiled Bay to learn how to "rough it" a bit. I loved going on this journey with Bay, to discover where she came from, search for her father, find her way to faith and of course, get to hang out with a handsome stranger! I found myself wishing I could go hang out on Resolution Island with them!

I thought this was a great debut novel from Rose Dee and I look forward to returning to Resolution Island soon with Dee's second novel, Beyond Resolution.
